All deliveries are curbside and require a scheduled appointment. Delivery does not include unpacking or bringing tiles indoors. Make sure someone is present to inspect and sign for the shipment.

Tiles are heavy and fragile. Orders are palletized and shipped via freight to minimize breakage. Each box can weigh 35–50 lbs, and we use shrink wrap and pallets for safety.

After dispatch, address changes are not guaranteed. If possible, the third-party freight carrier may allow changes starting at $100 per reconsignment.

Once your order reaches the nearest service center, the freight carrier will contact you to schedule delivery. You must respond within 24 hours to avoid storage fees.

Missed appointments can result in re-delivery fees up to $300 or more. You are responsible for any associated costs.

Otto cement tiles are made using natural color pigments, marble powder, and cement—formed with hand-pressed brass molds and never fired in a kiln, making them a sustainable alternative to ceramic or porcelain tiles. Our cement tiles are only 0.5” thick (vs. the standard 0.7”) but just as durable, thanks to high-grade fiber technology. They also use nearly 50% less cement, reducing environmental impact. The handmade nature of our tiles means each one has unique character, subtle irregularities, and an authentic aged look.

Yes—sealing is essential. Cement tiles must be sealed before and after grouting to protect against staining and moisture. Otto Tiles recommends Miracle 511 Porous Plus. These sealers are invisible and preserve the tile’s color and finish. Reseal annually in showers and every 2–3 years elsewhere. If water doesn’t bead on the tile surface, it’s time to reseal.

Use Mapei Ultracolor Plus FA grout and allow for a 1/32" (1mm) grout joint. If installing over underfloor heating, increase to 1/8" (3 mm) to accomodate expansion.
Grout color is a design decision: neutral tones give a traditional look, while color-matching the grout to the tile creates a sleek, modern finish.
Always test grout in a small area before applying widely.

Yes. Cement tiles are fully compatible with radiant heating systems. The floor heating should be turned off 12 hours prior to installation, and restarted gradually only after the tiles are fully cured. Leave a 3 mm (1/8") grout gap to allow for thermal expansion.

Unbox all tiles and lay them out to dry and acclimate. Do not stack tiles face-to-face. Clean any dust or residue before installation. Mix tiles from multiple boxes to evenly distribute tonal variation. We recommend ordering at least 15% overage to account for cuts, breakage, or unexpected issues during installation. Slight surface imperfections are normal and reflect the handmade nature of the product.

For regular cleaning, sweep or vacuum gently and mop with clean water and a pH-neutral cleaner. Avoid harsh chemicals, bleach, vinegar, or acidic products. Cement tilescan be used for pool waterline borders or surrounding areas such as decks,provided they are finished with a high-quality, pool-grade sealant. However, they are not suitable for fully submerged applications like inside pools, fountains, or water features. Even when sealed, cement tiles remain porous and can absorb water over time, which may lead tostaining, cracking, or deterioration. For submerged areas, we recommend choosing a non-porous alternative tile type specifically designed for underwater use.

Each Otto Zellige tile is handcrafted using natural clay and traditional methods. No two tiles are exactly the same. Their surface may include uneven edges, hairline cracks, color variation, or natural pitting—all part of their charm. These imperfections are celebrated as features, not flaws, and they contribute to a richly textured and organic appearance unlike any mass-produced tile.

Zellige tiles are incredibly versatile and suitable for a wide variety of applications, including:

Zellige tiles are also safe to use over underfloor heating, provided proper installation guidelines are followed.

Unglazed Zellige tiles must be sealed both before and after grouting to protect them from staining and moisture absorption. Use a high-quality penetrating sealant such as Miracle 511 Porous Plus. In high-moisture environments like showers, reseal annually.

Glazed Zellige tiles do not require sealing, as the glaze provides a protective barrier.

Use a flexible white paste adhesive or high-bond mortar applied using the double-spread method—on both the tile and the surface. The adhesive should be about 1/8" (3mm) thick to help compensate for tile irregularities.

For grout, use a very runny, liquid grout like Mapei Ultracolor Plus FA. Since Zellige tiles are laid edge-to-edge, grout gaps are minimal, no more than 1/32" (1 mm). Spread grout diagonally and clean with a damp sponge after 20–30 minutes. Always test grout on a small area first, especially with unglazed tiles.

Zellige tiles are surprisingly easy to install.Since they are handmade and naturally irregular in shape, they don’t require strict spacing or perfect alignment, giving you more flexibility during installation and a beautifully organic finish.
Zellige tiles should be installed as closely together as possible, ideally with no visible joint. Lay them edge-to-edge and expect slight variation in height and size. Use tiles from different boxes to balance tone and variation. Due to the irregular shape of Zellige tiles, they are best installed by a professional with experience in hand-cut Moroccan tilework. Never use a rubber mallet to set tiles; it may cause cracks.

Yes. Zellige tiles are compatible with heated floors. Make sure to turn off the heating system at least 12 hours before installation, and gradually return it to operating temperature once the tile and grout have fully cured.
